The story of Aesculap AG begins in 1867, when Gottfried Jetter founded a small workshop for surgical instruments. Already in 1889, the small business became a "Jetter & Scherer" company with branches in Berlin, London and New York. In 1899 the brand name Aesculap was registered. Since 1976 Aesculap has become a part of the B-Braun Group, what making it a part of the global corporation with more than 60,000 employees in 6000 countries.

Today, Aesculap AG offers products for many areas from general surgery to artroscopy and orthopedics (joint implants, osteosynthesis, motor systems) to micro-neurosurgery, spinal surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, maxillofacial surgery, gynecology, otorhinolaryngology, urology and abdominal surgery.
